This hand-crafted black light fixture is perfect for moody lighting designs that need a unique touch. With its artisan roots, it’s ideal for any space, from full-on Gothic modern interiors to contemporary black and white living spaces.

It’s a dyed version of our best-selling handmade bamboo pendant shade — same sizes, same flexible design, just dyed a black color.

As with the natural wood version, this black light shade is available as a shade only or with a pendant kit. We offer both hardwired canopy and plug-in options, with custom cord lengths.

THE ARTISANAL CRAFTSMANSHIP BEHIND THIS BLACK LIGHT FIXTURE

Each black wood light shade starts life being crafted by skilled local artisans in a small Thai province. Its original form and use is actually a fish trap. Bamboo is selected for its abundance (it’s Asia!), strength, and natural beauty. It is harvested, cut, and handwoven into a unique, open-weave design.

So we have the woven fish trap—what’s next? That’s where our lightbulb moment comes to life. We slowly submerge each fish trap basket into a vat of locally sourced deep black dye. The black dye seeps deep into the natural bamboo wood, preserving its texture while giving it a striking, bold edge.

It’s that blend of traditional techniques and contemporary design that makes this black light fixture so unique to us. It really is a standout piece.

STYLING YOUR BLACK LIGHT FITTING FOR GOTHIC MODERN INTERIORS

If you’re going a bit goth with your home’s aesthetic, this black lampshade fits right in. Double down on your modern gothic look by pairing it with rich, dark textures—velvet and leather furnishings are the go-to here. Suspend black light fittings above a medieval-looking reclaimed wood table and have some deep jewel-toned accents scattered around, and wow—that’s a look.
