THE ORIGINAL REPURPOSED BAMBOO FISH TRAP PENDANT LIGHT
Often imitated but never equaled, this is the original repurposed fish trap pendant light, a much-loved light fixture that has become synonymous with Lanna Passa. Hand-woven by local artisans in the northern regions of Thailand, each bamboo basket is a flexible, lightweight, and graceful creation, perfectly suited for pendant lighting.
Whether hanging in the home, in a restaurant, or at a wedding, the subtle neutral tones of the bamboo shades create a serene atmosphere. They feel almost dream-like at times, especially swaying in the wind outdoors. Indoors, they’re just as beautiful, especially paired with a warm, soft bulb (Edison bulbs being our personal pick).
Optional plug-in pendant kits allow you to drape your light cords and hang the pendant shades anywhere you wish. No complicated installation; just plug them into an outlet and hang them up.
This style of light shade is also available with a thick rope cord in a farmhouse lighting fixture and as a black bamboo pendant light.
PLUG-IN PENDANT KITS FOR A SWAG LIGHTING DECOR STYLE
These beautiful bamboo shades pair wonderfully with our plug-in swag light kits. We have three styles to choose from: white, black, and natural. The natural style features a rope light cord sleeve, perfect for adding a little extra when draping the light cord from the outlet to your hanging position.
The length of the cord can also be customized. Generally, if you’re going for a swag lighting style, you’ll need a fairly long cord to reach from your electrical outlet to the hanging point. When selecting your swag light pendant kit, you’ll be prompted to enter cable lengths and more. Whatever cable length you require, we’ve got you covered, and at no extra cost (within reason). If you need longer than, say, 10 meters, please shoot us a message first.
Finally, the plug type will be matched to the destination country. No worries about compatibility there; we’ve got that covered too.
CAN I HANG BAMBOO FISH TRAP SHADES OUTDOORS?
The bamboo pendant shades can be hung indoors and outdoors, although if you plan on hanging them outdoors where they’re exposed to the weather, you’ll need to purchase a weather-proof cable set, as our pendant kits are not suitable for outdoor use.
The shades, however, are fine. You don’t necessarily need a pendant kit or bulb; you can hang the fish trap baskets as they are and let them sway happily in the breeze. Bamboo fish traps make beautiful garden decor, whether hanging from trees or strung along a patio or veranda.

Every pendant light is woven, crafted, packaged, and dispatched to you from northern Thailand. We ship worldwide, to most countries in the world. Standard shipping is free, with an express option also available at checkout. Typically, your pendant light will be at your door within:

- Express shipping: 5–12 days

I ordered basket size B to replace two existing pendant shades and they are perfect! The ability to adjust the shape and size is great, I had a lot of fun trying out different options – it’s very easy! They are lightweight so I had to add a small wire to keep the shades on the existing pendant stem but that was easy. The shipping does take a while, especially in “these times”. My took a good 8 weeks to arrive but it was worth the wait.
