Given that these are plug-in hanging lights, a longer cable is usually preferred to reach from the wall outlet to the position of choice. Our swag kits can be made to any length – simply enter your preferred length when choosing your pendant kit style.

NATURAL IMPERFECTIONS
Since each black bamboo basket is crafted by hand, some subtle variations in size, shape, and shade are expected. There may also be slight marks and signs of wear, or a bamboo strand might be a bit frayed or snapped. Find a snapped bamboo strand? Panic not, this doesn’t impact the shade’s functionality at all, and you can always snip it out and reposition other strands in its place.
The handwoven nature and use of natural bamboo strands contribute to these small irregularities, making each piece unique while maintaining the overall design, shape, and usability.
FAQ
How are these black bamboo pendant lights dyed?
We personally hand dye each and every pendant shade. First, mixing dyes with water and bringing to the boil in a large outdoor vat, before submerging the bamboo baskets in the dye. After leaving for a few minutes to soak in the pigment, the baskets are removed and hung to dry outdoors in direct sunlight.
What light bulb works best with a black pendant light?
Our black pendant lights are compatible with various types of E26 and E27 thread type bulbs, providing flexibility in choosing the desired brightness, color and general ambience. There is no right or wrong choice when choosing a light bulb really, it simply depends on the type of vibe you wish to create.
Vintage-style Edison bulbs with exposed filaments are our go-to. We reckon they add a retro touch and some industrial charm to the black pendant shade. LED bulbs are pretty solid too, available in various color temperatures, ranging from warm to cool. Warm white LEDs can provide a similar warmth to incandescent bulbs, while cool white or daylight LEDs produce a brighter and crisper light.
Can you dye bamboo different colors?
Yes, it's possible to dye bamboo a whole range of colors using various techniques, though we're partial to a good ol' dip-dye. Dyeing bamboo opens up loads of creative design and customization possibilities, some of which you can see in our store. For example, we have a pretty cool collection of two-tone bamboo pendant cluster lights that have their lower section hand-dyed a bright color. We can also create custom shades and designs; feel free to contact us if you have an idea in mind.

Can I use these pendant lights outdoors?
The black bamboo basket shades are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. However, our plug-in swag pendant kits are suitable for indoor use only. If you wish to use the pendant shades outdoors, we recommend pairing with a pendant kit rated for all-weather.
