Repurposed Asian Cabbage Basket Bamboo Light

If you’re a fan of using repurposed items in the home for an environmentally friendly feel, then this light shade is perfect for you.

The large basket shape is created by weaving together bamboo strips. It is commonly worn on the back by hill tribe farmers who use it to pick and carry produce, commonly cabbages, from the mountains and fields. It is also used by coffee bean and tea leaf pickers in the Chiang Mai region, where some of the world’s finest teas are grown.

There’s not much else to it—we’ve simply repurposed the basket by tidying it up a little, removing any unnecessary handles, and adding brackets to affix a light cord.
