These raw hemp zafu meditation cushions have been lovingly crafted using handwoven hemp fabric sourced from the Hmong Hill Tribe of Southeast Asia.

Each zafu cushion features loosely handwoven raw hemp horizontally along the exterior, while a modern, locally produced 100% hemp fabric in an oatmeal shade makes up the top and bottom sections. Finally, each cushion is finished with an invisible zipper under the bottom section for easy filling and a classic Zafu side handle.

These hemp zafus are perfect for adding a touch of authentic ethnic character to your room, whether you use them for studying, relaxing, sitting and meditating, or simply as an extra little cushion adding some flair to your space. With a variety of naturally dyed shades to choose from, ranging from leaf green to bright pink, you can find a cushion that is not only supremely comfortable but also fits your color scheme and personal style.

Each zafu cushion is available with an organic kapok-filled cotton insert or as a cover only, ready to be filled with the filling of your choice.

The raw hemp is, well, raw. It’s unprocessed and woven loosely, so it has a beautiful natural texture that is a little rough to the touch. Of course, this means it may have small imperfections, whether in shade, tone, or weave. Rather than flaws, we feel that these imperfections are what make this zafu cushion special—that’s why we make them with raw hemp! Staying with the hemp theme, we’ve enclosed the zafu with a locally produced 100% hemp textile in a classic oatmeal-beige shade.

KAPOK INSERTS FOR A COMFORTABLE AND ECO-FRIENDLY ZAFU CUSHION

We offer our hemp zafu cushions in two options: as the cover only or with an organic kapok-filled insert. If you have your own filling material ready or plan to get some, whether feather, buckwheat hulls, or anything else, you can easily fill the cover by unzipping the bottom section and inserting either raw filling or an insert. The interior of the zafu is fully lined, so loose filling will fit inside without any issues; a separate insert filled with filling is entirely optional.

Why do we like kapok? We’ve written about kapok as a pillow filling in the past. In short, it’s eco-friendly, natural (being harvested directly from the Ceiba tree), and super comfortable.

CARING FOR YOUR HEMP MEDITATION CUSHION - NOTES AND TIPS

Your new hemp meditation cushion doesn’t need too much care, just a little common sense when it comes to stain removal. The raw hemp isn’t machine-friendly as it’s loosely woven, naturally dyed, and thus a bit fragile, so you’ll need to wash the cover by hand. 

We recommend a simple hand wash, if possible, using light or chemical-free soaps and detergent options. Give it a soak and a little scrub, and then hang it up somewhere to dry. For an insert, at least ours, you can give that a wash in the machine since it’s regular ol’ cotton, but don’t forget to remove the kapok filling first! You can wash kapok, but it’s insanely dense and will take forever to dry!

If you find your cushion loses its plumpness after a while, either plump up the kapok inside by hand or you can replace it with more. Generally, though, as long as you’re not spilling coffee everywhere or meditating in the mud, you won’t need to do much at all; your cushion will be comfy for a long, long time.

  • Express shipping: 5–12 days

We ship our cushions worldwide using a range of couriers, but typically, it will be your home country postal service handing you the package at your door, where you’ll likely need to sign to confirm delivery.
