COLORFUL HILL TRIBE HEMP FABRIC ROLLS
These colorful rolls of hill tribe hemp fabric embody traditional weaving and dyeing techniques. Each length of fabric is woven using natural hemp—the sturdy hemp fibers are twisted into thicker strands that are then intertwined to form a single long length. Colorful shades are created with the help of various plants, barks, roots, flowers, berries, and more, combining nature’s tones with a mix of traditional and modern dyeing methods.
The length and width of each roll can vary, but typically they will be between 7–9 yards long and 12–14 inches wide.
USING NATURAL HEMP FOR UPHOLSTERY AND CRAFTING
While processed hemp is hugely popular nowadays, used to create everything from boxer shorts and t-shirts to signage and jewelry, you might be wondering if it’s possible to use raw hemp rolls like this for your own sewing and crafting projects. The good news is, it is! In its raw state, it’s a little rougher than your typical fabric, but it can be used in upholstery, clothing, and more without issue.
You’ll need to wash it by hand, of course, but that’s about it. The only other thing to bear in mind is the loose weave. You’ll probably be able to see any fabric or skin underneath it, peeking out slightly from in between the hemp strands, so it might be a good idea to line it with a similar shade.Â
