This black bamboo fish trap basket is perfect for use in pendant lighting and other home decor. These are the same as our popular natural bamboo fishing trap baskets, just dyed a deep black color.

Thin strands of bamboo are woven together by Southeast Asian artisans to create an elegant and flexible form that can be shaped into various positions. We’ve hand-dyed the natural bamboo basket by dipping it into a large vat of dye, the dye soaking into the bamboo to change the color of the basket from a natural wood hue to a dark black.

We’re proud to have contributed to fish trap pendant shades becoming more widespread, with this flexible fish trap basket (both natural and black) becoming a particularly iconic piece. You may even have seen big-box stores making attempts to emulate this classic, but alas, they can’t quite match the authentically handcrafted original.

Available in various sizes (measurements and dimensions found below). Full pendant light cable sets are sold separately; however, each basket comes with a hanging bracket and cord grips for easy installation and suspension.

WHY A WOVEN BAMBOO FISH TRAP IS SO VERSATILE

We’ve used these black bamboo baskets to create various pieces, including our classic black bamboo pendant light. They’re flexible and able to twist into various unique shapes, making them ideal for pendant light fixtures with a bit of flair. Not only are they versatile in form, but they are sustainable and long-lasting. Made from natural bamboo with no glues, adhesives, or artificial materials holding their shape, they embody the strength and beauty of nature.

How can you incorporate a woven fish trap into your own projects or home decor? There are many ways you can use these flexible baskets, from the obvious pendant light shade option to general decoration, whether hanging, free-standing, or combined with other pieces of furniture. Take our black bamboo standing floor lamp, for example. When combined with a simple light base, these fish traps make gorgeous standing lanterns.

Due to the fish trap baskets being handmade, dimensions can vary but will generally fall within the listed ranges. Note that each basket may have minor imperfections inherent to natural wood and the process of weaving and dying.

As you can see in the photos, various shapes can be formed due to the flexible design of the fish trap basket. Below, we list dimensions for both the default tall shape and the round ball shape, which should give you some idea of dimensions for other shapes.
