We’ve repurposed an artisan-woven bamboo basket to create this classic Bali lamp shade. Using a traditional hand weaving technique, wide strips of bamboo are wrapped around each other, forming the basket shape, with thinner bamboo intertwined to create the bordered edge.

Whether you’re going for a Balinese island theme with white walls and natural wood accents, or just want to illuminate your space with a touch of nature, this lamp shade works wonderfully with its authentic, handcrafted aesthetic.

A range of plug-in swag light kits are available, including our much-loved rope and wood set, which we think goes especially well with this lamp shade. A BALI STYLE LAMP SHADE WOVEN USING SUSTAINABLE BAMBOO

We’re bringing beach villa vibes to your world with this one! While the basket shade is woven here in Northern Thailand, the shape and style of it make us instantly think of Bali. We’re not sure why—straw and other loose materials are common in stereotypical Bali lamp shades, so it’s probably the scraggly look, with strings of bamboo almost like loose threads peeking out amongst the rustic weave. In any case, we love it! It’s unique, genuinely handcrafted, and works fantastically well with tons of interior design themes.

Coupled with one of our swag light pendant kits—the jute cord option being our favorite—it illuminates your room with real bohemian character.

HOW DOES THE PLUG-IN PENDANT KIT WORK WITH THE LAMP SHADE?

It’s simple: just like a regular table lamp, one end of the light cord plugs into an electrical outlet, and the other end has the bulb glowing. What separates a table lamp from a pendant light, however, is how they stand or hang. A table lamp stands on a table (surprisingly), and a pendant light typically hangs from the ceiling or a point above. So, essentially, you just need a point from which to hang your pendant shade.

Many people use ceiling hooks, draping the cord from the hook and letting the pendant shade hang suspended from the hook. Others use brackets on the wall or simply drape the light cord around furniture, suspending the shade from any high point. It’s up to you, really. Just be aware that you may need a lengthy light cord depending on where your outlet is, so when selecting your pendant kit of choice, please add any cord length specifications that you require.
