Vintage Hill Tribe Cotton & Woven Silk Cushion

This vintage cotton and silk cushion is handcrafted from authentic ethnic textiles. We’ve sourced this particular textile from the Tai Lue hill tribe.

Being from roughly the mid-70s, the fabric has a worn and rustic look with small marks and loose threads, as you can see. Imperfections that, we think, only add to its rare vintage beauty.

The threads are majority cotton, with slivers of silk in the colorful sections.

The pattern is geometric, with sharp arrow edges and motifs. We’ve finished this cushion with a flat linen reverse in a plain oatmeal shade. Finally, an invisible zipper completes the luxurious cushion finish.

WHY THIS COTTON AND SILK LUMBAR CUSHION IS FOR YOU

This vintage silk throw cushion is a slice of history – a representation of Tai Lue hill tribe heritage. As with most hill tribe textiles, it was traditionally woven on a bamboo loom. Decades later, it retains its beautiful design, yet with a slightly worn, rustic appearance. A standout silk accent pillow for any space and one that is genuinely unique.

This cushion is available as a cover only or with a ready-filled insert. We stuff our cotton inserts full with organic kapok. It’s a fantastic cushion fill material – eco-friendly, hypoallergenic, and luxuriously soft. Our kapok is harvested from seeds of the kapok tree, or Ceiba tree, as it’s more formally known. SILK FABRIC CUSHION CARE INSTRUCTIONS

To care for a vintage throw pillow like this is not too difficult. Remove the kapok insert, then handwash the cover in warm water. Take care to avoid harsh soaps and powders, as you don’t want to lose any color or damage weak threads. Then once you’ve given it a scrub, just let it hang dry, preferably in the shade.
