An ethnic hill tribe lumbar pillow made using vintage indigo hemp fabric.

With its beautiful faded blue color and thick, rustic texture, this hemp lumbar pillow adds genuine personality and a one-of-a-kind look to your space. Whether on a sofa, bed, pouffe, or elsewhere, it is full of rich character and ethnic charm.

The fabric, sourced from the Hmong hill tribe, has a beautiful light blue shade and soft, hand-applied batik patterning, with a white stripe on the lower section to add contrast and variety. It is finished with an invisible zip and a bamboo fabric reverse in an ivory beige tone.

An optional pillow insert filled with kapok filling can be added, or you can simply go for the pillow cover alone.

A CLASSIC INDIGO LUMBAR PILLOW MADE FROM VINTAGE ETHNIC TEXTILES

This beautiful rectangular pillow is created using vintage indigo hemp batik fabric from the Hmong hill tribe.

The faded color and motifs result in a vintage bohemian style that is sure to spice up any space. It’s a one-of-a-kind piece, too. A worn white stripe on the lower section adds contrast to the main section, and the reverse of this pillow cushion features a lovely bamboo fabric in a beige shade.

CHOOSING A FILLING FOR YOUR LUMBAR PILLOW

We offer inserts with all of our lumbar pillows and cushions, stuffed full of natural kapok harvested from the Ceiba tree. If you’d like to fill it yourself with a different material, though, feel free to choose the ‘cover only’ option.

We’ve finished the pillow with an invisible zip enclosure on the underside, which allows for easy filling and/or cover removal for cleaning. The inside of the cushion is fully lined, too. This means you don’t necessarily need a separate insert—you can add loose pillow stuffing, whether it be buckwheat, feather, or kapok. An insert just makes things easier if your pillow stuffing material of choice is a little messy to work with.

CLEANING A PILLOW COVER MADE FROM VINTAGE FABRIC

Surprisingly, you don’t need any special cleaning methods to keep your vintage fabric pillow cover in top shape. The fabric has already had a long and eventful life, so a little scrub isn’t going to change things at this point.

That said, we do recommend a hand wash if possible and avoiding strong chemicals or soaps. Just give the pillow cover a little scrub in warm water and hang it to air dry.
